SMADA OPEN DEBATE
EXHIBITION (SODE)
 (SURABAYA, 5 JUNE 2010): On
Saturday until Sunday, 29th - 30th May 2010, UEC crews competed in
SODE. Held by SMAN 2 Surabaya, this tournament offered a unique
coalition option. Students from junior high and senior high schools
and also universities may team up across schools and school levels
to compete as a combined team. In this unique debate competition, UEC
crews managed to come up as the 2nd
winner.

1st SURABAYA
ENGLISH DEBATE CHAMPIONSHIP (SEDC): GENERATION OF CRITICAL THINKERS
(SURABAYA, 3 MAY 2010): On
Saturday until Sunday, 1st -2nd May 2010,
UWIKA English Department (UED), along with UWIKA English Community (UEC)
held the 1st SEDC, Generation of Critical Thinkers. Held during the
National Education Day, 23 teams from high schools in Surabaya,
Mojokerto, Sidoarjo, Malang and Ponorogo competed in this Austral-asian
debate championship.
Coming in the 1st place was
Team SMAN 2 A Surabaya. On the 2nd place was Team SMAN 2 A Mojokerto.
The best speaker for this competition was Muhammad Fajar from SMAN 2
Mojokerto.

EXPLORE PROGRAM:
LEADERSHIP IN DIVERSITY
 (NARWASTU,
8 MARCH 2010): From 5th until 6th March 2010,
UWIKA English Department (UED), in cooperation with UWIKA Management
Department, held the Explore Program: Leadership in Diversity. This
program was dedicated for High School's OSIS members to enhance
their leadership capability.
Supported by Metromedia, this
program took place at Narwastu, Pacet. 24 students from various high
schools in Surabaya and Sidoarjo have joined this program. Yulius
Kurniawan, S.Pd, Head of UED, said, "We are committed ourselves to
the development of future leaders. That's why we will held this

INDONESIAN
VARSITY ENGLISH DEBATING CHAMPIONSHIP
(IVED) 2010
 (BANDUNG,
24 JANUARY 2010): From 15th until 20th January
2010, right after the final exam, UED again sent the UEC crews to
head up to Bandung to join IVED 2010. Held by ITB, the teams fought
some of Indonesia's best debating teams. Regardless their valiant
efforts, skills and experience did the talking there.
Nonetheless, it was
fun! What an experience!

EAST JAVA VARSITY
ENGLISH DEBATING CHAMPIONSHIP (EJVED) 2009
 (MALANG,
7 DECEMBER 2009): On 4th until 6th January 2009, UED sent three
teams to compete in EJVED 2009. Held by Universitas Negeri Malang,
the teams, who call themselves as UWIKA English Community (UEC, lead
by Hendra Lanata) managed to get to the Octo-final in their first
competition.
